New DVD and Blu-Ray Releases to Crave: A King Speaking, Gulliver Traveling, Down the Rabbit Hole

A bit of high and lowbrow for your pleasure this week. Depending on what course you want to take, there should be something appeasing.

1) Winning a boatload of Oscars certainly helps things and no doubt The King's Speech is going to be on many a watch list. Despite my feelings that Social Network was robbed, I will get around to watching this some time in the future. Historic dramas aren't my usual cup of tea, but I'm willing to give it a fair shot.

2) Keeping with the drama theme, Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart have some grieving to go in Rabbit Hole - but they way they go about it threatens to tear them apart. I have a feeling this is one of those films you don't just pop in for light afternoon or evening - you better be prepared for this one.

3) If you're more interested in keeping the kids entertained for a bit, Jack Black has your back with Gulliver's Travels. Adults, however, are better off skipping this one, unless they like the the feeling of brain cells leaking away.

4) On a journey of a much different kind is Colin Farrell in The Way Back. Anyone who makes a 4000 journey on foot for the sweet taste of freedom deserves recognition.

5) The bond between a boy and a bird may sound like something Disney would come up with, but the English drama Kes isn't sunshine and happiness - don't be fooled, this is some heavy drama. Criterion packs the release full of interviews and a documentary as well, meaning you'll get even more out of the film

On the Blu-Ray front if you're up for video game action, luck is with you as Mortal Kombat breaks into the high definition era. You could go with the sequels as well, but we all know only the original version is any fun. For martial arts fans, Donnie Yen returns in Ip Man 2. Nothing like an old-fashioned beat down to end the week.

There are plenty of other films for you to enjoy - for the complete listing visit the FilmCrave New DVD Releases and FilmCrave New Blu-Ray Releases pages today.
