A recovering alcoholic ex-cop is hired by a drug dealer to find the men who were responsible for the abduction and brutal murder of his wife.
Yet another grizzled, no-nonsense tough guy role for Liam Neeson, A Walk Among The Tombstones is less Taken than an odd hybrid of Silence Of The Lambs and Inspector Morse. The references to old style private eyes such as Philip Marlowe and Sam Spade speak to some rather heady delusions of grandeur, but it’s a solid enough detective story that relies …
If you could have just said, “I’m sorry”,
Maybe then we could do something with this.
But you can’t take responsibility for anything!
So now I can’t accept… And I can’t forgive because…
Because nobody admits anything they’ve done!
“Hereditary“. A film I was really looking forward to and expected a lot from. Unfortunately, it was kind of a disappointment. If it would be a psychological drama that concentrated on the traumatizing effect after the loss of a relative with a labile …

It was fun watching Keanu Reeves speak Russian, but this movie couldn't seem to figure out what it wanted to be. It swerved all over the place from glamrous to gritty, mushy to exploitative, high-minded to cliche-ridden.

I thought the first Pacific Rim was OK - I mean, it's Guillermo del Toro, so there is some merit even if it was giant robots beating on giant monsters. This sequel suffers from a lack of del Toro - also a lack on interesting characters and only a slightly interesting story. All told, this seems like a pointless endeavor - barely above a Transformers-level of a chaotic level of action and a mess of everything else. Unless you're hard up on giant robot fights, look elsewhere.

"Critique is so limiting and emotionally draining"
"The admiration I had for your work has completely evaporated."
'Velvet Buzzsaw' feels more like Goosebumps TV movie with the plot summary and overexpose lighting that made it look cheap. This is just sad as I had high hopes for this one, despite 'Roman J. Israel Esq.' leaving a sour taste in my mouth.
There's not a single likable character in this movie. Well maybe Natalia Dyer character who play's the innocent co-worker. What's even worse is they get way too much screen time, which …

Another one of those comedies that is funniest in small vignettes instead of the whole story. Gary Cole is the standout as the passive aggressive boss.

Reminds me of the film Clint Eastwood shot about the Paris Train shooter those marines stopped. There's just not enough meat on the bones to carry a 90 minute film. There maybe could have been if they'd overhauled the script and narrative. But a lot of stuff got glossed over, like how they tried fence the stuff. It ends up being an incredibly boring film. My advice, watch it at 1.25x speed while doing another mundane task. There's no twists, nothing to keep you zoned in. You could walk away …

Not a tear jerker film, but definitely really sad. It posted a lot of questions and at the same time some good chunk of truth.
