The best blockbuster film of the summer. It takes all the elements people love about the franchise then dials it up to eleven. The action scenes and chases haven't been this exciting in an action film probably since its predecessor Rogue Nation. The returning cast is great. The underrated actor Sean Harris doesn't disappoint as arch-villain Solomon Lane. Henry Cavill's CIA agent Walker is a good addition to the proceedings and Vanessa Kirby is having a ball as the femme fatale arms dealer White...

Incredibles 2 - Review

“Help me bring supers back into the sunlight”.

It’s been 14 years.

After all these years and sitting through three ‘Cars’ movies - The only sequel that needed to happen has finally happened. It couldn't come quickly enough. Because I cherish ‘The Incredibles’ on multiple repeats when I was little. Also losing count of how many times I've played the PS2 game version. So yeah, this meant the world to me and anticipating a sequel for a long time, just like everyone else.

While ‘Incredible...

Ok so like most people I had been waiting for this movie for awhile and while I admit I enjoyed it and it was worth it the movie was full of nonstop action scenes and even breif swearing. I love it no doubt but for a kid I say hold off till DVD make sure the tiny tots are really ready and are able to talk to you about it if need be I loved it though another recommendation is getting snacks as the movie is very long and lasting but it is so filled that you barly notice the length I totally recom...

Billy Wilder goes wild... and hilarious. Some Like it Hot is an exclusively original, stylish and brilliant comedy. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis were exceptionally perfect for such roles. And hear at their female voices! Fine comedy and a must-see classic. No list of favorite films is complete without a sexual satire, especially if it has the charm and appeal of a sexy Monroe just before the decade of the 50s had ended!

97/100

I know that this movie has been described as an artistic compromise or even a failure, and that Welles wasn't happy with the final cut. Well, it might not be Citizen Kane, but I found it beautifully and innovatively shot, and a moving story besides. The interior of the house alone was such an incredible set! I'd been meaning to rewatch this since moving to Indiana -- tempted to read the book as well.

The Magnificent Ambersons review

"Life and money both behave like loose quicksilver in a nest of cracks." George Minafer (Tim Holt) was born rich and spoiled by his mother Isabel (Dolores Costello) and Major Amberson (Richard Bennett), his grandfather. Uncle Jack (Ray Collins) and his aunt Fanny (Agnes Moorehead) know something that would affect the Amberson's, inventor/entrepreneur Eugene Morgan (Joseph Cotten) and Lucy (Anne Baxter). Detailed character development, acting sensational, nicely scored and superbly written. ...

"Some Like It Hot" by Yojimbo

A pair of musicians witness a mob execution and so go into hiding disguised as women in an all girl band in Florida. Billy Wilder made his name making a variety of black hearted satires, but here we find him at his least cynical. It's one of those types of film they just don't make any more as the brilliant double act of womanising cad Curtis and sidekick Lemmon see how the other half live. Their bickering and banter obviously owes a lot to Hope and Crosby and the gender swap is done with real ...

A Great Companion to Citizen Kane

Even in its studio-cannibalized form, the film holds up as a companion piece to Welles' Citizen Kane. Welles again traces the downfall of a great family, playing with themes of jealousy, pride, and progress. The film is great in its dissection of the coming industrial age. The ending falters a bit, as this is where the studio stepped in, but the film still holds power and promise.

Some Love It Hot!

Cross-dressing. A story point used in many comedies through previous decades, but in the case of this movie it was a first (correct me if I'm wrong). This premise was much more fresh, and much more funny, at the time. 'Some Like it Hot' has held up over the years as a hilarious outing. It has the perfect mix of physical humor, wacky shenanigans, one-liners, and innuendos. The mixing of sexes through appearance isn't played for cheap or vulgar laughs. The risque elements are handled mature...

Some Like it Hot review

Joe and Jerry (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon) accidentally witnessed the 1929 Saint Valentine's Day massacre, was spotted by "Spats" Columbo (George Raft). Both men dress as ladies and joined an all-female band. Joe falls for "Sugar Kane" (Marilyn Monroe) while an old millionaire named Osgood Fielding III (Joe E. Brown) enjoys the company of Daphne (who is Jerry). Wonderful set locations, costumes, screenplay and cinematography. The multi-character portrayals of Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon we...
